JEE Main 2026 Exam Dates, Eligibility, Syllabus & Preparation
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting JEE Main 2026 in two sessions:
Session 1 (January 2026):
Exam Dates: 21–30 January 2026
Application Started: 31 October 2025
Last Date (Session-1): 27 November 2025
Correction Window: 1–2 December 2025
Admit Card: Issued 3 days before the exam
Result: Around 12 February 2026 Session 2 (April 2026):
Exam Dates: 1–10 April 2026
Session 2 (April 2026):
Registration Window: Likely late Jan – Feb 2026
Admit Cards & Results: After the exam — usually within weeks post-test
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
You must have passed Class 12 or equivalent (in 2024, 2025, or appearing in 2026).
Subjects Required:
Physics and Mathematics are essential; Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational are also accepted depending on paper.
Age Limit:
There is no upper age limit to appear in JEE Main.
Attempts:
You can appear 3 consecutive years after Class 12 (max 2 attempts per year).
Minimum Marks:
No minimum marks are required to appear, but to get admission in NITs/IIITs/GFTIs you generally need 75% in boards (65% for SC/ST).
Exam Pattern & Syllabus
Paper Structure
JEE Main usually has 3 papers:
Paper 1 – B.E./B.Tech (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)
Paper 2A – B.Arch (Maths, Aptitude, Drawing)
Paper 2B – B.Planning (Maths, Aptitude, Planning)
Tests are computer-based (CBT) for most parts; drawing may be pen-paper.
Syllabus
- Based on NCERT Class 11 & 12 Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
Marking Scheme
- +4 for correct answers / –1 for wrong MCQs / 0 for unattempted
